ZIWI Dog Food Review: A Deep Dive into Ingredients, Quality and Price!
Okay, so I’ve been meaning to switch up my dog’s diet for a while now. He’s been on the same kibble for years, and honestly, I started feeling a bit guilty. I mean, I wouldn’t want to eat the same processed stuff every day, so why should he? Plus, he’s been getting a little chunky, and his coat isn’t as shiny as it used to be. That’s when I started looking into different options, and I stumbled upon this brand called Ziwi.
At first, I was like, “Ziwi what?” Never heard of it. But then I started digging, reading their website and stuff, and it sounded pretty darn good. They talk a lot about using real meat, organs, and all that good stuff, no fillers or grains. It’s like the dog food equivalent of a fancy, home-cooked meal. But here’s the catch – it’s expensive. Way more than what I was used to paying for regular kibble. I even saw something about them making the food in their own kitchens in New Zealand. Fancy!
I hemmed and hawed for a while. I mean, we’re talking a significant price jump here. But then I thought about my furry buddy and how much I want him to be healthy and happy. And you know what? His health is worth it. Also, there is a kind called Steam & Dried, which seems not that expensive.
So, I took the plunge. I ordered a small bag of the Ziwi Peak air-dried food, the lamb recipe, to start. The ordering process was simple enough, just like ordering anything else online. When the package arrived, I was actually kind of excited to see how my dog would react. I opened the bag, and the first thing I noticed was the smell. It definitely smelled like real meat, not that artificial, processed smell you get with some kibbles.
I put a little bit in his bowl, and he went nuts! He gobbled it up so fast I thought he was going to choke. I’ve never seen him that excited about food before. I started mixing it with his old kibble to transition him slowly, and over the next few weeks, I gradually increased the Ziwi and decreased the old food.
And let me tell you, the changes I’ve seen in him are amazing. First of all, he loves the food. Like, really loves it. He gets all excited at meal times now, which is adorable. But more importantly, I’ve noticed some real improvements in his health. His coat is super shiny now, like, I can practically see my reflection in it. He’s also slimmed down a bit, and he seems to have more energy. He’s like a puppy again, running around and playing like crazy.
What I Learned
- Real meat makes a difference: I’m no dog food expert, but it seems like feeding my dog real, whole ingredients has made a huge difference in his overall health and well-being.
- It’s worth the cost: Yes, Ziwi is expensive. But seeing how much my dog has improved, I think it’s worth every penny. His health is an investment, after all.
- Transitioning is key: I learned that it’s important to transition your dog to a new food slowly, especially if it’s a big change like this. Mixing it with their old food helps their digestive system adjust.
So, there you have it. My Ziwi dog food adventure. It’s been a positive experience for both me and my furry friend. If you’re thinking about making a switch, I’d say go for it. Just be prepared for the price tag, and remember to transition slowly. Your dog will thank you for it!
