Is Your Dog Peeing on Your Clothes? Understand the Causes and Get Help!
Man, you wouldn’t believe the headache I’ve been dealing with lately. My dog, bless his furry little heart, has this annoying habit of peeing on my clothes. It’s driving me nuts!
So, the first time it happened, I just figured it was a one-off accident. I mean, he’s usually pretty good about going outside. But then it happened again. And again. That’s when I knew I had a problem on my hands.
My first move was to start watching him like a hawk. I wanted to catch him in the act, you know? Maybe figure out what was triggering this behavior. I also made sure to take him out more often, just to give him plenty of opportunities to do his business where he’s supposed to.
Next, I started cleaning the soiled clothes like crazy. I used this special enzyme cleaner someone recommended to get rid of the urine smell completely. I figured if he couldn’t smell it anymore, maybe he wouldn’t be tempted to repeat the offense. It’s not foolproof, but it seems to help a bit.
Then it hit me – could it be a health issue? I mean, my dog’s not getting any younger. I took him to the vet, just to rule out anything serious like incontinence, which I read is common in older dogs. Thankfully, he got a clean bill of health. What a relief!
Stress Could Be the Culprit
That got me thinking about stress and anxiety, which made me read about it online. I realized I had been pretty stressed out lately with work and everything. Could my dog be picking up on my vibes? It seemed plausible. So I started making an extra effort to spend quality time with him, you know, playing fetch, going for walks, just chilling together. It’s been nice for both of us, actually.

It’s been a process, and honestly, he’s still had a couple of slip-ups. But overall, things are improving. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we’ve finally turned a corner. It just goes to show, sometimes you gotta play detective, doctor, and therapist all rolled into one when you’re a dog owner!
