Okay, so, a few weeks ago, I noticed my dog, Buddy, was scratching like crazy. Like, non-stop, all day and night. I felt so bad for him. He’s a good boy, and seeing him so uncomfortable was rough.

First thing I did was give him a bath. I thought maybe he’d gotten into something outside, or maybe it was just some dry skin. I used that oatmeal shampoo that’s supposed to be soothing. Didn’t help much, though. He was still scratching a lot.

Then, I checked him over real close. I looked between his toes, in his ears, everywhere. I saw some redness and what looked like a bit of a rash on his belly and in his ears. That’s when I started to get worried it might be more than just dry skin.

So, off to the vet we went. After checking him, the vet said it looked like Buddy had a skin infection, she told me it’s maybe both bacterial and fungal. The vet recommended this ointment called Dermalone. She said it’s got stuff in it to fight both bacteria and fungus, plus something to help with the inflammation and itching.

    Here’s how I used it:

  • Ears: First, I cleaned Buddy’s ears out real good. He hates this part, but it’s gotta be done. I used a regular dog ear cleaner. Then, I put about 3-5 drops of the Dermalone ointment in each ear.
  • Skin: For the rash on his belly, I just cleaned the area with a damp cloth and then applied a thin layer of the ointment.

I did this twice a day, once in the morning and once at night, according to the vet instructions. Honestly, it was a bit of a struggle at first. Buddy wasn’t a fan of the ear drops, he kept shaking his head. The belly part was easier, though, he seemed to like the feeling of the ointment.

I kept this up for about a week, and I started seeing a difference after just a couple of days. The redness started going down, and Buddy was scratching way less. He seemed so much more comfortable and like his old self again.

Now, a few weeks later, he’s all better! The infection’s gone, and his skin looks normal again. I’m so glad I took him to the vet and got that Dermalone ointment. It really worked wonders for my Buddy. He’s back to his happy, playful self, and I’m one relieved dog owner!
