Why Should My Dog Be Americas Favorite? Heres the Answer!

Okay, so I saw this "America's Favorite Pet" contest thing and thought, "My dog, Buster, totally deserves to win!" So I decided to give it a shot, and, man, it was a bit of a rollercoaster. Here's how it went down:

Why Should My Dog Be Americas Favorite? Heres the Answer!

First Step: Realizing Buster is THE BEST

It all started when my friend, Sarah, posted pictures of her cat in some online contest, so,I began to think my dog ,Buster,is much more cuter. I mean, don't get me wrong, her cat's cute, but have you seen Buster? He's got that goofy grin, those floppy ears, and a tail that wags so hard his whole body wiggles. It's weapons-grade cuteness. I started thinking he should in the contest and began to prepare.

The Photo Shoot Saga

Right, so first thing's first: photos. You can't win a contest without some killer pictures. I spent a whole afternoon trying to get Buster to pose.I Prepared a bunch of treats, his favorite squeaky toy, the whole nine yards.

  • Attempt 1: Buster in a bandana. He looked adorable, but the second I got the camera out, he decided the bandana was a chew toy. Fail.
  • Attempt 2: Buster "playing" in the park. Turns out, "playing" means "rolling in the muddiest puddle he could find." Double fail.
  • Attempt 3: Buster with his head cocked to the side, looking all innocent. Almost got it... until a squirrel ran by. Triple fail.

Finally, after like, a million tries, I got a few decent shots. He was just sitting there, looking at me with those big, brown eyes, and click. Magic.

The Write-Up: Making Buster a Star

Next up, the description.I mean I have to persuade the public why Buster, deserves to win,I need to tell everybody how special he is. I wrote about how he greets me at the door every day like I've been gone for years, how he snuggles up on the couch during movie nights, and how he's always there to cheer me up when I'm feeling *,I rewrite it for several times until I satisfied.

Spreading the Word (aka Begging for Votes)

I posted the photos and the write-up everywhere. I mean everywhere. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, I even sent it to my grandma (who, bless her heart, still uses dial-up). I messaged all my friends, family, and even that guy I met at the dog park that one time.

The Nail-Biting Wait

The waiting part was the worst. I kept refreshing the contest page, watching the votes (hopefully) roll *'s really a challenge I never met before.I have to keep an eye on those figures,I felt like a nervous wreck.

The Result

I am honered Buster got the prize, and I would shared the joyment to Buster with a big bone.I do love this guy!
