Why Dogs Love Floppy Dog Toys,Which is best for dogs?
Okay, so the other day I decided to make a floppy dog toy. I've seen these all over the place and figured, "Hey, I can probably whip one of those up!" No real plan, just a vague idea and some leftover fabric.

Getting Started
First, I grabbed some fleece scraps I had lying around. I chose a nice, bright blue because, why not? Then, I sketched out a super basic dog shape on a piece of paper. Think two rounded rectangles for the body and head, and four smaller ones for the legs. Nothing fancy, really just a guideline.
Cutting and Sewing
Next, I pinned my terribly drawn pattern to the fleece and cut out two of each shape. So, two bodies, two heads, eight legs… you get the idea. I made sure to leave a little extra room around the edges for seams.
Then came the sewing. I started with the legs, sewing two pieces together for each, leaving the top open so I could stuff them later. I did the same for the head and body, but I left a bigger opening on the body to attach everything.
Stuffing and Assembly
- I used some poly-fill stuffing I had on hand. Could have used old fabric scraps too, I guess.
- I lightly stuffed the head to give a good shape.
- I stuffed the legs, but not too much – I wanted them to be nice and floppy.
- I attached the legs to the body, kind of eyeballing where they should go. Pinned them in place first, then sewed them on.
- Then I sewed the head onto the body, making sure it was secure.
Finishing Touches
Almost done! I flipped the whole thing inside out through the opening I'd left in the body. Then I stuffed the body, again, not too tightly. I wanted it to be squishy and floppy, not stiff.
Finally, I hand-sewed the opening closed with the body. I just used the simple stitch that my grandma showed me. It is super easy.
It's definitely not perfect, a little lopsided, maybe, but my dog loves it! He's been dragging it around everywhere. Success! I will make another one for my friend's dog.
