Alright, let me tell you what happened when I got this idea about catnip toys and my dog.

So, we've got cats, right? And they go absolutely nuts for those little catnip-filled things. We've got mice, little balls, you name it, stuffed with that green stuff. They roll around, get all goofy, it's pretty funny to watch.

Anyway, the other day, I was watching my dog, Buster. He’s a good boy, a Labrador mix, mostly interested in food and walks, you know the type. He was just lounging around while the cats were having a grand old time with a new catnip toy I'd bought. One of the cats batted it across the floor, and it landed right near Buster's nose.

What Happened Next

He sniffed it. Once. Then he looked up at me like, "Is this food? Doesn't smell like food." And that was it. He just put his head back down. The cat came back, grabbed the toy, and went bonkers again right next to him. Buster didn't even flinch.

I thought, maybe it was just that one toy? So, I grabbed another one, a little kicker toy also full of catnip. I waved it in front of him. Nothing. I tossed it gently. He watched it land, sniffed it again, and then just walked away to lie down somewhere else. Zero interest. Absolutely none.

It wasn't like he was scared of it or anything. He just genuinely didn't care. It was like handing him a rock. He sniffed it, decided it wasn't edible or throwable in a fun way, and moved on.

So, my big experiment? Total dud. For my dog, at least, catnip just doesn't do anything. The cats can keep their weird green stuff. Buster's sticking to squeaky toys and tennis balls.

Just thought I'd share what happened over here. Maybe other dogs react differently, who knows? But for Buster? Nah. Not his thing.
