Alright, so today I wanna share my little project – a dog crinkle toy! My buddy, Max, just loves these things, but buying them all the time gets expensive. So, I figured, why not try making one myself?

Whats the best dog crinkle toy for your furry friend?

First things first, I gathered my materials. I had some leftover fleece fabric lying around from a previous project, so that was perfect for the outer layer. I also needed something to make the crinkly sound, and after a bit of searching, I found these mylar bags that potato chips come in. I saved a bunch of them up for this project.

Next up, the cutting. I cut two pieces of the fleece into squares, roughly 8x8 inches. Didn't have to be perfect, just close enough. Then, I cut the mylar bags into smaller pieces, making sure they were all smaller than the fleece squares. This way, none of the plastic would stick out.

Time to assemble the thing! I layered the mylar pieces between the two fleece squares. I tried to spread them out evenly so the crinkle sound would be consistent throughout the toy. Then, I carefully pinned the edges of the fleece together to hold everything in place.

Here's where my rusty sewing skills came in. I sewed around the edges of the square, leaving a small opening, like an inch or two. This was super important because I needed to be able to turn the whole thing inside out.

Once I'd sewn most of the way around, I turned the toy inside out through that little opening. This hid the seams and made it look a bit more presentable. It also encased all the crinkly mylar inside.

The last step was to close up that opening. I tucked the raw edges of the fabric inside and then carefully hand-stitched the opening closed. You could probably use a sewing machine for this, but I was feeling lazy and the hand-stitching worked just fine.

And that was it! A brand new crinkle toy for Max. He went absolutely nuts for it. Chewed it, crinkled it, tossed it around. All in all, a super simple project that saved me some cash and made my dog happy. I'd definitely recommend giving it a try if you have a dog that loves crinkle toys. Maybe next time I'll try a different shape or add some squeakers!
