What are the Best Toy Dog Mixed Breeds? We Picked for You!
Okay, so I've been thinking about getting a dog for a while now. Not just any dog, though. I wanted something kinda unique, you know? Something a bit… mixed up! So, I started digging around online, looking at all sorts of "best toy dog mixed breeds." And let me tell you, it was a rabbit hole!

The Research Phase (aka "Cute Overload")
First, I just started with a bunch of basic searches. I typed in things like "small fluffy mixed breeds" and "hypoallergenic toy dog mixes". I ended up with a million tabs open – seriously, my computer was groaning!
I made a list of the ones that caught my eye. There were some I'd never even heard of, like the "Pomsky" (Pomeranian and Husky mix – can you imagine?). Others were more familiar, like the "Cockapoo" (Cocker Spaniel and Poodle mix).
Narrowing It Down (aka "Decision Paralysis")
Then, it got serious. I had this giant list, and I had to start narrowing it down. I thought about a bunch of stuff:
- Size: I live in an apartment, so definitely needed something on the smaller side.
- Shedding: My allergies aren't terrible, but I didn't want a fur-nado in my living room.
- Energy Level: I'm pretty active, but I also like to chill on the couch. So I needed a dog that could do both.
- Temperament: Friendly and good with people, that's a must!
The Deep Dive (aka "Getting Obsessed")
For each of the breeds on my shortlist, I started doing more in-depth research. I looked at pictures, videos, read articles, and found forums where people talked about their experiences with these different mixes.
I started focusing on ones known for being smart and relatively easy to train. I watched some training videos online, which was super helpful.
I also Looked at some local shelters and rescue groups, just to get an idea if any mixes were common.
The Final Decision (aka "Mission Accomplished… Almost")
After all that, I think I've narrowed it down to two top contenders: the Cavapoo (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Poodle mix) and the Maltipoo (Maltese and Poodle mix). They both seem to tick all the boxes. Now, the real fun begins – finding the perfect pup!
So, yeah, that's where I'm at. It's been a journey, but a fun one. I'll keep you guys posted on how it goes!
