Okay, so I've been thinking about getting a dog for, like, forever. But I also travel a bit for work, and I knew that was going to be a hurdle. So, my first step was to figure out how much it would actually cost to board a dog while I'm out of town. Specifically, I wanted to know the price for a full week of doggy daycare.
I started by, you know, hitting up Google. Just typed in "dog daycare cost per week" and stuff like that. I saw a bunch of different websites, some for local places, some were just general info sites. It was kind of overwhelming, to be honest.
I figured the best way to get a real answer was to actually call some places near me.

I started calling around. I made a list of, like, five different places that looked promising online. Here's a breakdown of what I found:
- Place #1 (Fancy Paws Resort): These guys were the high-end option. They had, like, a "spa" for dogs and individual suites. Sounded nice, but the price was steep. they said for a full week it will be close to $700 per week.
- Place #2 (Happy Tails): This place seemed more middle-of-the-road. They had group play areas and comfy-looking kennels. for a full week it cost around $400.
- Place #3 (The Dog Park Inn): This one was a smaller, family-owned kind of place. They emphasized one-on-one attention. Their rate was pretty good and cost around $350 per a full week.
- Place #4 (Wagging Woofers): Very basic, no-frills kind of place, but the reviews were surprisingly good. They mentioned long walks and lots of * cost around $300 for a full week of care.
- Place #5 (Fuzzy Friends): Similar to the Dog Park Inn, they are family owned and seemed warm. They cost around $375 for a full week.
After all those calls, I felt like I had a much better handle on things. It's not cheap, that's for sure! But there's a range of prices, and it seems to depend a lot on the amenities and the level of individual attention.
So, I'm thinking Fuzzy Friends might be the winner. They had reasonable rates, it's not gonna break the bank, and most importantly I would be able to take my dog out of town. My next step is to go visit these top two places in person, see the facilities, and meet the staff. I think that'll really help me make my final decision.
