Using Entederm Ointment for Dogs: Dosage, Tips and Tricks

Okay, here's my blog post about using Entederm ointment on my dog:

Using Entederm Ointment for Dogs: Dosage, Tips and Tricks

So, my dog, Buster, he's a golden retriever, and he's got this thing with his skin. Always itching, always scratching. It drives me nuts, and I'm sure it drives him nuts too. I've tried a bunch of different stuff – special shampoos, changing his food, you name it. Nothing seemed to really stick.

Then, the vet recommended this stuff called Entederm ointment. Honestly, I'd never heard of it before. But, you know, the vet's the expert, so I figured I'd give it a shot.

Getting Started

First thing I did was read the instructions, a few times to avoid any mistake. It's pretty straightforward, though. You just gotta make sure the area is clean, so I usually give Buster a quick wipe-down with a damp cloth where he's been scratching the most.

Applying the Ointment

I apply a thin layer of Entederm on affected skin areas, as directed.

  • The Consistency: It's kind of like a thick cream. Not super greasy, but not watery either. It's pretty easy to spread around.
  • Buster's Reaction: At first, he was a little weirded out. He kept trying to lick it off, which, you know, you're not supposed to let them do. So, I had to distract him with a treat or a toy for a few minutes after I put it on.

The Results (So Far)

I've been using the Entederm for about a week now, and I gotta say, I'm seeing a difference. He's definitely scratching less. The redness on his skin seems to be going down a bit, too. It's not a miracle cure overnight, but it's definitely an improvement.

My main takeaway: It's all about consistency. I make sure to apply it regularly, usually twice a day like the vet said. And, like I mentioned, keeping Buster from licking it off is key. That's probably the biggest challenge, to be honest.

I'm gonna keep using it and see how it goes. If things keep improving, I'll be one happy dog owner! Fingers crossed this is the solution we've been looking for.
