Unique female dog names for French Bulldogs: Ideas & inspiration

Okay, so, I decided to get a French Bulldog. Super hyped, right? But then BAM! The name. Picking a name for a female dog is way harder than I thought.

First, I started just brainstorming. Like, writing down ANYTHING that came to mind. Cute stuff, funny stuff, even weird stuff. Filled a whole page with total garbage. Seriously, don't even ask.

Then I figured, "Alright, gotta be systematic about this." I went online, looked up lists of popular female dog names. There were a million of 'em! Bella, Luna, Daisy... you know, the usual suspects. They're fine, but they didn't feel right for my little Frenchie. I needed something with a little more... personality.

So, I shifted gears. Since she's a French Bulldog, I thought, "Why not go French?" I started searching for French female names. That was a little better! I found some cool ones like "Coco" (classic!), "Fleur" (means flower, pretty!), and "Bijou" (means jewel, fancy!).

But I didn't stop there. I wanted to see if there were any French words that sounded like good dog names. I remembered from high school French that "cherie" means darling or sweetheart. That could work! But then I thought it sounds a little too cheesy for shouting across the park.

Next up, I looked at names of famous French women. Brigitte Bardot was the first to pop into my head, but “Brigitte” seems way too formal for a chunky little Frenchie. Then I remembered Coco Chanel! "Coco" was already on my list, and it definitely fits the French vibe.

Still not sold though. So I tried thinking about her personality even before I got her! What kind of vibe was I going for? She's a Frenchie, so she's gotta be a little sassy, a little goofy, definitely adorable. That helped narrow things down.

Finally, I started mixing things up. French-ish sounding names, nicknames, and even just sounds I liked. Here’s where it got fun. I kinda stumbled across it. I was saying "ooo la la" jokingly, and then I thought about "Lola." "Lola" sounded kinda sassy, kinda cute, and totally worked with the Frenchie vibe. Plus, it’s easy to yell at the dog park!

And here's the big moment. I tried out "Lola" a few times, imagining calling her that. It just clicked! It felt right. So yeah, that's the story of how I (finally) picked a name. It was a long, slightly ridiculous journey, but worth it.
