Unique Dog Names That Start With I: Best Picks for You
Alright, so yesterday I was just chilling, brainstorming some ideas for a new dog I'm planning to get. Decided to start making a list of names, and thought, "Why not start with the letter 'I'?" Seemed as good a place as any, right?
So, first thing I did, I just sat down with a pen and paper. Old school, I know! Started jotting down anything that came to mind. "Ivy" was the first one, popped right into my head. Then I thought of "Iggy," because, why not? After that, I kinda hit a wall. My brain just wasn't cooperating.
Time for the internet! I fired up my laptop and just Googled "dog names that start with i". Tons of lists came up, as expected. I started scrolling through, looking for something that clicked.
I saw "Indy," which is kinda cool, short for Indiana Jones or something. Then there was "Iris," which is a pretty flower name, could be cute for a girl dog. "Igor" was another one I saw, maybe a bit goofy, but could be fun if you're into that kind of thing.
But most of the lists online were kinda generic, you know? So, I started thinking outside the box a bit. I thought about things I like that start with "I." "Italy" came to mind, but that's a weird dog name. Then I thought of "Indigo," like the color. Not bad!
Next step: I started considering different breeds of dogs, thinking maybe the breed could influence the name. Like, if I got an Italian Greyhound, "Italia" might not be so weird after all. Or maybe something like "Imola," after the race track in Italy.
I also thought about some famous dogs in movies and TV. Couldn't think of any off the top of my head that started with "I," but it was worth a shot. Even looked through some lists of mythological creatures for inspiration. "Icarus" was there, but that might be setting the dog up for failure, ha!
After a couple of hours, I had a decent list going. Nothing that screamed "this is the one!" yet, but a good starting point. Here's what I ended up with:

The final part of my process: After all that, I just let the list sit overnight. Sometimes a fresh perspective helps. This morning, I looked at it again, and "Indigo" stood out a bit more. I dunno, it just sounds kinda cool and unique. Still not 100% sold, but it's definitely a contender.
Anyway, that was my little dog name brainstorming session. Still gotta figure out what kind of dog I'm getting first, but at least I've got some "I" names to consider! Maybe next I'll tackle "J" or "K." Stay tuned!
