Switching to Castor & Pollux Organix? What to Expect (Feeding Guide Tips)
Okay, so I've been meaning to switch up my dog's food for a while now. He's been getting a little, shall we say, fluffy around the middle, and his coat hasn't been as shiny as it used to be. I did a little digging, and this Castor & Pollux ORGANIX kept popping up as a good option, so I figured, why not give it a shot?

First thing I did was head to the pet store. It wasn't hard. I just looked around. They've got a million different kinds of dog food, it's kinda overwhelming, to be honest. But I finally found the ORGANIX section. They had a few different varieties – chicken & brown rice, salmon, even a grain-free one. I went with the chicken & brown rice because my dog seems to do okay with those ingredients.
Checking the Bag
Next, I spent a good few minutes just staring at the back of the bag. You know, reading the ingredients list, checking the protein and fat percentages, all that stuff. It looked pretty decent – real chicken as the first ingredient, no weird by-products or artificial anything. Seemed promising!
I also checked the feeding guidelines. Gotta make sure I'm not overfeeding (or underfeeding) the little guy. The bag had a chart based on weight, so I estimated where my dog fell and made a mental note of the recommended amount.
The Transition
Now, I know you can't just switch dog foods overnight. You gotta do it gradually, or you risk some… unpleasant digestive issues. So, I started by mixing a little bit of the ORGANIX with his old food. Just a tiny bit, like a quarter of the bowl.
- Day 1-3: 25% ORGANIX, 75% old food.
- Day 4-6: 50% ORGANIX, 50% old food.
- Day 7-9: 75% ORGANIX, 25% old food.
- Day 10 onwards: 100% ORGANIX.
I did this for a few days, then upped the ratio to about half and half. Kept an eye on his, uh, "output" to make sure everything was going smoothly. No problems there, thankfully!
Then, I did about 75% ORGANIX, 25% old food for a few more days. Finally, after about a week and a half, he was fully on the new food.
The Results (So Far!)
It's been about a month now, and I'm seeing some good changes. His coat is definitely looking shinier, and he seems to have a bit more energy. He's always been a pretty active dog, but he seems even more excited for walks and playtime now. I also want to say that he seems to have slimmed down a tiny bit. Not a huge difference, but I think we're moving in the right direction!
Overall, I'm pretty happy with the Castor & Pollux ORGANIX. It's a bit pricier than his old food, but I feel like it's worth it for the quality ingredients. I will keep checking his body to see if he is getting fat or slim. Plus, he seems to really enjoy the taste, which is always a bonus! I will continue to observe.
