Oreo Dog Toy for Puppies & Adults: Safe, Fun, & Deliciously Cute!

Okay, so I saw this DIY Oreo dog toy project floating around online and thought, "Why not?" My pup, Buster, goes crazy for anything that even remotely resembles food, so I figured this would be a hit. Plus, it looked pretty easy.

Gathering Supplies

First things first, I grabbed the materials. I didn't wanted go out shopping, so I just use the things around in my home:

  • Some old black and white felt - leftover from a Halloween costume, I think.
  • Stuffing - I just ripped apart an old pillow Buster had already mostly destroyed. (He's a chewer, what can I say?)
  • Needle and thread - basic black, nothing fancy.
  • Scissors - the ones from the kitchen junk drawer.
  • A circular object to trace - I used a small plate.

The Making

I started by tracing two circles onto the black felt using the plate. I cut out the felt, and make sure it looks as round as possible. Next i traced two smaller circles than previous onto white felt and cut them out, too.

Then, I took one of the black felt circles and one of the white ones, and sewed them together. My sewing skills are, um, rustic, so it wasn't the prettiest thing, but it held. I did the same thing with the other black and white circles. So now I had the top and bottom "cookies" of the Oreo.

Now for the messy part. I placed the two "cookies" together, wrong sides facing, and started sewing around the edge. I left a gap of about a few inches, and then I stuffed. And stuffed. And stuffed. Buster likes his toys plump, so I made sure it was good and full.

Finally, I sewed up the gap. And… that was it! Seriously, it was way easier than I expected.

The Reveal (and the Aftermath)

Buster went absolutely bonkers for it. He tossed it, chewed it, carried it around, the whole nine yards. He's been playing with it for a few days, and it is holding up pretty well, with the only thing is the sewing is loose a little, I might have to reinforce the stitching at some point, but overall, I'd call this a DIY win!

If you're looking for a super simple and cheap dog toy, definitely give this Oreo one a try. Just, uh, maybe supervise your dog, especially if they're a power chewer like mine!
