Open Farms Dog Food Reviews: Is It the Right Choice for Your Pup? Find Out Here!

Okay, so I've been seeing ads for Open Farm dog food everywhere, and I finally caved. My golden retriever, Max, is a picky eater, and I'm always on the lookout for something healthy that he'll actually enjoy.

Getting Started

First, I headed to their website to check out what they offer. I liked that they focus on ethically sourced ingredients. You know, humanely raised meats, non-GMO veggies, all that good stuff. It made me feel better about what I'd be feeding Max.

Choosing the Right Formula

They have a bunch of different recipes. Dry food, wet food, even freeze-dried raw. It was a little overwhelming, to be honest! I spent a good amount of time reading through the descriptions and ingredient lists. Narrowing it down took some effort.

  • Pasture-Raised Lamb: Sounded tasty, but Max sometimes has issues with lamb.
  • Wild-Caught Salmon: This looked promising! Max loves fish.
  • Homestead Turkey & Chicken: A safe bet, but maybe a little boring?

Placing the Order

I finally decided to go with the Wild-Caught Salmon recipe. I figured it would be good for his skin and coat, too. The ordering process was pretty straightforward. I added the food to my cart, entered my shipping info, and paid with my credit card. Standard online shopping stuff.

The Waiting Game

The food took about a week to arrive. I was a little impatient, I admit. I was eager to see if Max would like it. While I was waiting, I also check some other dog owner's sharing, find if anyone have the same problem.

The Big Reveal

The package finally arrived! The bag looked nice, and I appreciated that they included some feeding guidelines based on Max's weight. I opened the bag, and the smell wasn't too overpowering, which is a plus. Some dog foods smell awful!

I put a scoop in Max's bowl, and...he went for it! He actually ate it all without me having to coax him. Success!

The Verdict (So Far)

It's only been a couple of weeks, but so far, so good. Max seems to have more energy, and his coat does look a bit shinier. I like that I can trace the ingredients back to their source using a code on the bag. It gives me peace of mind.

It's definitely pricier than the regular kibble I was buying before, but I think it's worth it for the quality. I'm planning on trying some of their other recipes in the future, maybe the freeze-dried raw food. I'll keep you guys posted!
