Okay, so I've been messing around with animation lately, and I had this idea to create an animated Aussie Dog, kinda like Bluey, but, you know, my own version. And I decided to give her a sister named Bingo, just for fun!

Getting Started

First, I doodled some rough sketches of the dogs. Just basic shapes, trying to get a feel for their personalities. I wanted the Aussie to be energetic and a little goofy, while Bingo would be a bit more chill.

Digital Drawing

Then, I took those sketches into my drawing program . I'm not a pro artist or anything, just learning as I go, so it's all pretty simple. I started with the outlines, then filled in the colors. Aussies have those cool merle patterns, so I tried to capture that, with patches of gray, black, and white. Bingo, I made a simpler, mostly brown color.

Making them Move

This is where it got tricky. Animation is hard! I broke down the movements into simple steps. Like, for a walk cycle, I drew the legs in different positions, the tail wagging, the head bobbing. I did the same for other actions, like sitting, jumping, and playing.

  • Drew the key poses (the main positions).
  • Added in-betweens (the frames that connect the key poses).
  • Played it back to see if it looked smooth.
  • Adjusted and tweaked until it looked somewhat okay.

Adding the Sister

Once I had the Aussie dog মোটামুটি (mòtàotāi - meaning "roughly") animated, I did the same for Bingo. I wanted her movements to be a bit slower and more deliberate, to contrast with her sister's energy. It's all about showing their personalities through movement.

Putting it all Together

Finally, I put the animations together in a short little scene. It's just the two dogs walking, then sitting down and looking at each other. Nothing fancy, but it's a start!

It's definitely not perfect, lots of wobbly lines and awkward movements, but hey, I'm learning! It's super satisfying to see these little characters come to life, even if it's just in a simple animation. I might try to add some backgrounds and sound effects later, but for now, I'm happy with my little animated Aussie dog and her sister, Bingo.
