Okay, so I've been trying to get my picky husky, Koda, to eat his kibble without turning his nose up at it. He's gotten SO bored with it. I saw this "dog food seasoning topper" thing online and figured, why not give it a shot? I mean, I like to spice up my own food, so maybe Koda would appreciate the same!

My DIY Dog Food Seasoning Experiment
First, I gathered some stuff I already had in the kitchen. I didn't want to buy anything special until I knew if this would even work. Here’s my simple ingredients:
- Plain Yogurt:Just a little, he love that.
- Peanut Butter : I found a half jar in the back of the cupboard! I use the kind with no added sugar or salt.
- A Banana: I choose a small banana to mash.
- Carrot: I grated small piece for mix them.
Then I grabbed Koda's regular kibble and put his usual amount in his bowl. I made a note of roughly how much I was using so I could keep the portions consistent.
Next, I use a small bawl mixed a spoonful of the yogurt, a SMALL dollop of peanut butter (seriously, don't overdo it with the peanut butter, it can be fatty), and that mashed banana. I mix them up good until it was all kinda creamy.
Then pour it over Koda's kibble. I didn't just dump it on top, I kind of mixed it in a little so some of the kibble got coated. I didn't want it to be a soupy mess, just enough to add some flavor and * small piece of carrots.
Finally, I place the bowl before koda, and... he actually ate it! He looked a little surprised at first, sniffed it for a second, and then went to town. No turning his head away, no dramatic sighs. He cleaned the bowl!
I've tried this a few times now, and it seems to be working. I’m going to keep experimenting with other safe fruits and veggies. I’m thinking maybe some pureed pumpkin next time, or maybe some finely chopped cooked sweet potato. The key seems to be just a little bit of something new and tasty to make his boring old kibble more interesting.
Remember, I’m not a vet, so if you’re going to try this, it's best to do some double check on those ingredients. What's good for one dog might not be good for another. But for my picky husky, this little "seasoning topper" experiment has been a winner!
