Okay, so the leaves started turning, you know? That crisp air hits, and suddenly everything needs to be pumpkin spice and covered in plaid. I looked at my dog, Max, just lounging there, same old blue collar. Didn't feel right for autumn. Needed something... fall-ish.

First thing, I poked around online. Saw a bunch of collars. Some had little pumpkins, some had leaves. Cute stuff, sure. But they either looked kinda flimsy or cost more than I wanted to spend on something Max would probably roll in mud the first chance he got. Plus, none of them were exactly what I pictured.

So, I thought, why not just make one? How hard could it be? I remembered I had a couple of Max's old collars stuffed in a drawer. Found one that was perfectly fine, just boring. A plain brown nylon thing. Good base.

Next stop was the craft store. Man, those places are overwhelming. Aisles and aisles of stuff. I just wanted something simple. Found some ribbon, finally. It had little orange and yellow leaves on it, kinda burlap-y texture. Looked sturdy enough. Grabbed that, and some fabric glue. I'm not exactly a sewing expert, you know? Glue seemed easier.

Got home, laid it all out on the kitchen table. Measured the ribbon against the collar. Cut a piece long enough to wrap around the outside. This is where it got a bit messy. Trying to get that fabric glue on evenly wasn't as simple as I thought. Put down some newspaper, thankfully. Squeezed out the glue onto the collar, spread it a bit with a stick. Then carefully pressed the ribbon down on top.

Had to hold it in place for a bit. Put some heavy books on top of it while it dried properly. Checked it after an hour or so. Seemed stuck on there pretty good. Trimmed the edges of the ribbon where it overlapped near the buckle and the D-ring, making sure all the important bits still worked right. Didn't want the leash unhooking itself, obviously.

The final thing actually looked decent! It wasn't perfect, a little bit of glue squeezed out the side in one spot, but you couldn't really tell unless you looked super close. It had that fall vibe I wanted.

Called Max over. He wasn't too thrilled about the interruption to his nap. Snapped the new collar on him. He just shook his head once, like he always does with a new collar, and then went back to sniffing the floor. Didn't seem to notice the festive upgrade. But hey, I noticed. Looked pretty sharp against his fur. Ready for autumn walks now. Felt good making it myself, even if it was just gluing ribbon onto an old collar. Job done.
