Need a Fromm Hasen Duckenpfeffer dog food review? Discover what other pet parents are saying now.
Alright, so I needed to switch up the dog's food again. You know how it goes, sometimes they just get bored, or maybe their tummy acts up. I kept seeing this Fromm brand around, looked kinda fancy, and the name "Hasen Duckenpfeffer" – rabbit and duck stew, basically – sounded interesting. Different, you know? Figured, why not give it a shot.

Finding it wasn't too hard, went down to that pet boutique place, the one with the squeaky door. They had a whole section of Fromm. Grabbed a small bag of the Hasen Duckenpfeffer. Felt kinda heavy for its size, which I guess is okay?
Opening it up and First Sniffs
Got home, popped the bag open. The kibble pieces looked pretty standard, maybe a bit darker than his usual stuff. Gave it a sniff myself. Didn't smell bad, actually. Kinda meaty, but not overpowering like some foods get. My dog, Buster, came right over, tail doing that helicopter thing. Good sign, usually.
The Big Test: Mealtime
So, dinner time rolls around. I decided to mix just a little bit in with his old food first. Didn't want any sudden stomach surprises, learned that lesson the hard way a while back with a different brand – let's not even talk about that clean-up.
- Day 1: He definitely picked out the new Fromm pieces first. Ate them right up and then finished the rest. No hesitation. Okay, point one for Fromm.
- Day 3: Upped the ratio, more Fromm, less old stuff. Still eating it eagerly. Went outside, did his business, seemed normal. Stools looked solid, maybe even a bit better than before. That's always a big checkmark for me.
- Day 7: Pretty much fully transitioned now. He cleans his bowl every time. Doesn't seem to be having any itching fits or weird reactions.
What I Noticed Overall
Energy levels seemed about the same, maybe a little perkier, but hard to say for sure, he's generally a pretty active guy. His coat? Maybe looking a bit shinier? Could be wishful thinking, but it doesn't look worse, that's for sure.
The main thing is, he genuinely seems to like it. He gets excited when he hears the bag rustle. Didn't happen much with the last food we were on. That one was okay, but he'd sometimes leave bits behind. Not with this Hasen Duckenpfeffer stuff. Bowl's licked clean.
So yeah, the whole process went smoother than expected. Bought the bag, opened it, mixed it in slowly, and watched him. He ate it, his digestion seems fine, and he seems happy. For now, this one seems like a winner. We'll stick with it for this bag and see how it goes long term, but gotta say, initial results are pretty good. Simple as that.
