My dog is panting in her sleep, what does it mean( main causes and what to do)?

Okay, so the other night, I noticed my dog, Luna, was panting pretty heavily in her sleep. It kinda freaked me out, so I started digging around to figure out what was going on.

First, I observed her closely. Was she just hot? We'd had a pretty active day, playing fetch in the park, and the house was a little warm. So, I turned on the fan and made sure she had plenty of water. I watched her for a bit, but the panting continued.

The vet suggested it was likely just from dreaming or being a little warm, since Luna had shown a behavior of running while sleeping. She recommended I keep an eye on her, and if the panting became excessive or happened when she was awake and resting, to bring her in for a checkup.

So basically if running during sleep then means dreaming.

My Conclusion (For Now)

For now, I'm keeping a close watch on Luna. I'm making sure she's not overheating, and I'm paying attention to her overall behavior. It seems like it was probably just a case of intense dreaming or a slightly warm room, but I'm definitely staying vigilant. It's always better to be safe than sorry when it comes to our furry friends!
