My dog always sleeps at my feet, is it normal? Find out here!

So, I’ve been noticing something kinda weird with my dog lately, and I just had to figure out what was going on. Every night, without fail, my furry buddy plants himself right at my feet when we hit the sack. At first, I thought it was cute, you know, a little extra warmth, but then it started getting a bit annoying. I mean, I like to stretch out when I sleep, and having a dog curled up at the foot of the bed kinda cramps my style.

I started to pay more attention to my dog’s sleeping habits. I noticed that he was sleeping all day long. Like, seriously, all day. He’d find a cozy spot on the couch or in a sunbeam on the floor and just snooze the day away. Then, when night rolled around, he’d be wide awake, following me around, nudging my hand for pets, and generally being a little shadow. He was not like a normal dog. No matter how much exercise he got during the day, he still had this weird sleep schedule.

My Dog’s Weird Sleeping Habits

• Daytime: Sleepy, lazy, napping all over the place.
• Nighttime: Wide awake, energetic, following me everywhere.

I tried a few things to see if I could get him to sleep through the night. I made sure he got plenty of exercise during the day, thinking that maybe tiring him out would help. I took him for long walks, played fetch in the park, and even tried some agility training. But nope, still wide awake at night and right there at my feet when I crawled into bed. Then I tried changing up his feeding schedule. I thought maybe he was getting hungry during the night, so I started feeding him a little later in the evening. Still nothing. He was still a night owl, and I was still waking up with a dog at my feet.

I even tried creating a super comfy sleeping space for him in another room. I got him a fancy new dog bed, put some of his favorite toys in there, and even sprayed it with some of that calming lavender stuff. I really hoped this would do the trick. But guess what? He’d spend a few minutes in there, sniff around, and then trot right back to my bedroom and plop down at my feet. Stubborn little guy, I tell ya.

Finally, I decided to just let him be. It became our little routine, my dog’s way of being close. After all, it’s not the worst thing in the world, right? Maybe he just likes being near me. Who knows? Dogs are weird, but we love them anyway. So, for now, I’ve just accepted that my feet will continue to be his preferred sleeping spot. And you know what? I’ve actually gotten used to it. It’s kinda comforting in a way, knowing he’s there. Plus, he’s a pretty good foot warmer on those cold nights!
