My Dog Always Lays by the Front Door - Why? (Decoding Dog Behavior Explained)
Okay, so, my dog, right? He's a good boy, a real good boy. But lately, he's been doing this thing where he just plants himself by the front door. Like, all the time. It started a couple of weeks ago, maybe? I didn't think much of it at first. Thought, you know, maybe he just likes the cool air coming in from under the door, or something.
But then it kept happening. Every day, bam, there he is. So yesterday, I decided to pay more attention. I watched him, like, all morning. He'd get up, eat his breakfast, go outside to do his business, come back in... and straight to the door he went! And, man, he will stay there for hours.
Trying to figure it out
- First, I checked the door itself. Was something stuck in it? Was it making a weird noise? Nope. Nothing. The door was just a regular old door.
- Then I thought, maybe he's waiting for something? So, I tried to see if it had anything to do with my mailman. I watched for the mailman to show up, then kept an eye on my dog. Nope. Nothing. He would just be sitting there, no matter who was outside.
- Next, I tried going out the front door myself, a bunch of times, to see if he would, like, try to follow me or something. Nope. He just stayed there, staring at the door like it held the secrets of the universe.
- I thought maybe he was not feeling ok, so I made an appointment and took him to the vet this morning. But the doctor said he is totally healthy, and it's probably just him developing a new habit.
So, yeah, that's where I'm at. After all this watching, and checking, and even the vet visit, I'm still trying to figure out why my dog is so obsessed with the front door. It's a mystery! This afternoon, I will keep an eye on him and see if anything changes, I just want to know why he is doing that!
