Lick Toys for Dogs: A Great Way to Reduce Anxiety.
Okay, so I saw this thing online about "lick toys" for dogs and thought, "Huh, that's interesting." My pup, Buster, is a super chewer and gets bored easily, so I'm always looking for ways to keep him entertained. Figured I'd give these a shot.

The Hunt Begins
First, I went to the pet store. Just your regular, big-box type place. I browsed around the toy aisles, and man, there are a LOT of dog toys. I found a couple that looked like they might work – basically, rubber toys with grooves and holes you can stuff treats into.
The Experiment
- Step 1: Prep the Toys. I grabbed some peanut butter (Buster's favorite!) and some of those little training treats. I smeared the peanut butter into the grooves of one toy and stuffed the treats into the holes of the other.
- Step 2 : Introduce toys.Making sure toys full with peanut butter.
- Step 3: Let Buster at 'Em. I gave Buster the toys, and he went nuts. He was licking and chewing for a good 20 minutes straight. It was pretty hilarious to watch.
- Step 4: Observe the Aftermath. After he was done, the toys were pretty clean (he's a thorough licker, that one). I just rinsed them off with some water, and they were good to go.
My Two Cents
Honestly, these lick toys are pretty cool. They definitely kept Buster occupied for longer than his usual chew toys. Plus, it's a good way to give him a little extra mental stimulation, since he has to work to get the treats out. I'd say it's a win! I might even try freezing the toys with the peanut butter inside next time, just to make it last even longer. Good stuff!
