Is Your Dog Peeing on the Couch? Heres Why and How to Stop It Now!

Okay, so my dog was peeing on my couch, and let me tell you, it was driving me crazy! I mean, who wants to deal with that, right? So I started to figure out what was going on.

Is Your Dog Peeing on the Couch? Heres Why and How to Stop It Now!

Tried a Few Things

First, I tried limiting where my dog could go in the house. I used baby gates and closed doors to keep him away from the couch. It kinda worked, but he was always trying to sneak past me. Like I was the bad guy just trying to keep my couch clean!

  • Baby gates – He just jumped over them.
  • Closed doors – He scratched at them until I gave in.

Then, I thought maybe crate training was the answer. I mean, they say dogs don’t like to pee where they sleep, right? So I got a crate and started the whole process. It was a bit rough at first, with all the whining and barking, but he eventually got used to it. I noticed that it helped a bit.

Covered the Couch

But I also wanted a more immediate solution, something to protect the couch right away. So I went online and found these sofa covers. It turned out that the sofa cover can repel liquids. They’re like a shield for your couch! I ordered one, and it was a game-changer. It repelled not just pee but also spills and other messes.

  • Protection: It actually worked! No more pee soaking into the couch.
  • Easy to clean: Just throw it in the wash, and it’s good as new.

I also tried some of those pet-safe repellents. You know, the sprays that are supposed to make your furniture smell bad to dogs? Well, they kinda worked, but the smell was a bit much for me too. And my dog, he’s a smart one, he just found new spots to pee on. So this is not a really good idea for me and my dog, and it didn’t work really well.

After doing all this stuff, I finally feel like I’m getting somewhere. It’s not perfect, and I still keep an eye on him, but it’s way better than before. And my couch? It’s still in one piece, thank goodness! It was a journey and took some time, but I finally figured it out.
