Is Authority a Good Dog Food? See Our Review Now
Alright, so the other day I was standing in the pet store, staring at a wall of dog food. My dog, Max, he's been kinda picky lately, and I wanted to try something new. I saw this bag – "Authority" – and thought, "Hmm, that sounds…authoritative. Maybe that's what Max needs!" So, I grabbed it.

First thing I did when I got home, I checked the ingredients. Now, I'm no expert, but I know to look for real meat as the first ingredient. Authority had chicken meal listed first. Not ideal, but okay. Then I saw some grains, which Max usually handles fine. Nothing too alarming on the label, at least to my untrained eye.
Next step: the taste test (Max's taste test, not mine!). I poured a little bit into his bowl, and he sniffed it... sniffed it again... and then started chowing down! That was a good sign. He usually turns his nose up at anything he's not immediately thrilled with.
Over the next week or so, I kept an eye on him. Was he energetic? Were his poops… normal? No surprises there, thankfully. His coat seemed a little shinier, maybe? It's hard to tell with a black lab, but I think it did.
Here's the breakdown:
- Pros: Max liked it, didn't upset his stomach, seemed to give him energy, and the price was decent.
- Cons: Chicken meal as the first ingredient isn't my favorite, and it has grains, which some people avoid.
Would I buy it again? Probably. It's a solid option, especially when you're on a budget. Max seems happy, and that's what matters most. I'm always on the lookout for something better, but Authority is a decent choice in the meantime.
One More Thing...
I did some digging online after buying it, checking reviews and stuff. Some people swear by it, others say it's just okay. Like everything else, it seems to depend on the dog. So, if you're thinking about trying it, just buy a small bag first and see how your furry friend reacts!
