Is All This Licking Normal? pq mi perro me lame mucho
Okay, so my dog, he's a golden retriever named Buddy, and he's the sweetest thing, but lately, the licking has been NON-STOP. Seriously, I woke up the other day, and he was just going to town on my face. It was like a sandpaper washcloth, I tell you!
I started to get a little worried. Was he stressed? Was something wrong? Was I just extra delicious lately? (Kidding... mostly.) So, I dove into full-on research mode.
My Lick-Fest Investigation
First, I observed when the licking was happening most. Was it after walks? Before meals? When I got home? You know, I tried to be a doggy detective.
- Scenario 1: I came home from work. Buddy greets me at the door, tail wagging like crazy, and then... BAM! Lick attack.
- Scenario 2: We went for a long walk in the park. He seemed pretty chill afterward, but then he started licking his paws... and then my legs... and then my hands.
- Scenario 3: I sat down to watch some TV, and he jumped up on the couch, snuggled close, and... you guessed it, more licking.
It seemed like it was happening mostly when he was excited or wanted attention. But it also happened when he was just chilling near me. It was all a bit confusing.
So after recording all of this stuff, I changed a couple things.
When he went overboard with the licking, I gently redirected. I did this a few times, and it did reduce the intensity.
I also made sure he was getting enough exercise and playtime. A tired dog is a good dog, right? And a less licky dog, hopefully!
My Lick-Fest Conclusions
It's still a work in progress. He definitely licks less than before, that is for sure. I think a lot of it was just his way of showing affection and maybe a little bit of boredom or excitement. I'm still keeping an eye on him, but for now, I'm enjoying slightly less slobbery snuggles.
