Okay, so I saw this thing pop up online, people putting slices of cheese on their dog's head. Looked pretty silly, but hey, why not? I figured I’d give it a shot with my own dog, Cooper. He’s generally a good sport, especially if there’s food involved, even potentially on his own head.

First things first, I needed the cheese. Went to the fridge, rummaged around. Found a pack of those individually wrapped American cheese slices. You know the kind, bright orange, a bit floppy. Seemed like the right tool for the job. Didn't want anything fancy that might crumble.

Getting Started

Got Cooper’s attention. He came trotting over, tail wagging, probably thinking he hit the snack jackpot. I peeled the plastic off the cheese slice. It felt kinda flimsy in my hand.

Then came the tricky part. I told Cooper to sit, which he did, looking up at me expectantly. I took the cheese slice and gently, kinda quickly, just placed it flat on top of his head, right between his ears.

The Moment of Truth

He just froze. Didn't move. His eyes kinda went wide, maybe a little bit of confusion? He definitely smelled it, his nose was going non-stop, twitching like crazy. He didn't shake it off immediately, which surprised me. He just sat there, like a statue with a weird, orange hat.

  • Step 1: Get cheese slice.
  • Step 2: Call dog over.
  • Step 3: Place cheese on dog's head gently.
  • Step 4: Try to grab phone quickly for a picture.

I scrambled to get my phone out of my pocket to capture this glorious, ridiculous moment. Managed to snap a couple of photos before the inevitable happened. The cheese started to warm up and droop a bit down his forehead.

The Grand Finale

He stayed patient for maybe a good 15 seconds, which is like an eternity in dog time when there's cheese involved. Then, with a swift flick of his head, the cheese slice went airborne for a split second before landing on the floor. Before I could even react, Cooper had lunged forward and hoovered it up. Gone in an instant.

So, that was it. My big experiment with the cheese head trend. Took less than a minute from start to finish. It was pretty funny, gotta admit. Cooper got an unexpected treat, and I got a goofy picture to laugh at later. No fuss, no complex setup, just a slice of cheese and a willing (or maybe just momentarily confused) participant. Simple fun, really.
