How Much Is Dog Daycare per Day, Week, or Month?

Okay, so the other day, I was looking at my budget and thinking, "Man, I'm spending a fortune on dog treats and toys!" My pup, Buster, is totally worth it, of course, but I also started wondering about dog daycare. We both work long hours, and I hate leaving him cooped up all day. So, I started digging around to see how much dog daycare actually costs.

My Deep Dive into Doggy Daycare Prices

First, I jumped on my phone and started googling "dog daycare near me." I found a bunch of places, some fancy-schmancy with "spas" and others more basic. The prices were all over the place!

  • Some places charged by the half-day (around 4-6 hours), with prices ranging from $15 to $25.
  • Full-day rates (usually 8-10 hours) were anywhere from $25 to a whopping $50!
  • Then, I saw some places offering weekly or monthly packages. These seemed like a better deal if you were going to use daycare regularly. The weekly rates could be around $120 to $200, and monthly could be anywhere from $400 to over $800!

I started making a list of all the places near me, jotting down their prices and what was included. Some offered basic care – playtime, walks, and a place to nap. Others had extra add-ons like grooming, training sessions, and even webcams so you could check in on your furry friend.

Then I started calling. I wanted to get a feel for the place and the people. I asked about things like:

  • How many dogs are there per staff member?
  • What's the daily schedule like?
  • What kind of play areas do they have? Are they inside, outside, or both?
  • What happens if my dog gets sick or injured?
  • What kind of training or experience do the staff have?

After all that, and visiting the place,I think I may try the place at a monthly package.

Honestly, it was a bit of a headache comparing all the options. But I figured it was worth it to find a place where Buster would be happy and safe while I'm at work. I also realized the cost will save me money for dog treats, and new furniture I don't need to buy, haha.
