Honest Review: Is Pure Balance Dog Food Really Good or Bad?
Okay, so I've been seeing a lot of chatter online about Pure Balance dog food. Some people swear by it, others...not so much. I figured, why not try it out myself and see what the fuss is all about? My furry buddy, Max, is always up for trying new things (especially if it involves food), so he became my official taste-tester.

The Shopping Trip
First things first, I headed to the store to grab a bag. I opted for the chicken and brown rice recipe because, well, Max loves chicken. I also noticed they had grain-free options, but I decided to stick with the regular stuff for this experiment.
The First Sniff
Back home, I ripped open the bag, and honestly, it didn't smell too bad. Some dog foods can be pretty pungent, but this one was relatively mild. Max, of course, was already circling my feet, tail wagging like crazy.
The Taste Test
I poured some into his bowl, and he dove right in. No hesitation whatsoever! He gobbled it down pretty quickly, which is usually a good sign. I watched him carefully for any immediate reactions, like spitting it out or looking disgusted, but he seemed perfectly happy.
The Waiting Game
Now came the real test: observing him over the next few weeks. I kept a close eye on his energy levels, his coat, and, ahem, his "output." I wanted to see if there were any noticeable changes, good or bad.
- Energy Levels: Max is usually a pretty energetic pup, and I didn't notice any significant dips or spikes in his energy. He was still his usual playful self.
- Coat Condition: His coat looked healthy and shiny. No signs of dryness or itchiness. So far, so good.
- Digestion: This is where things got a little interesting. For the first few days, everything seemed normal. But then, I noticed his stools were a bit softer than usual. Not diarrhea, thankfully, but definitely softer. I decided to keep going and see if it was just an adjustment period.
The Verdict (So Far)
After a few weeks, the softer stools persisted. It wasn't a huge issue, but it was enough for me to wonder if this food was the perfect fit for Max. I suspect it might be a bit too rich for his system, or maybe he needs a different protein source. My final option is it might be better if Max gets the grain-free options.
So, is Pure Balance dog food good or bad? Honestly, it's hard to give a definitive yes or no. It seems like a decent quality food, and Max definitely enjoyed eating it. But based on his slightly softer stools, I'm thinking it might not be the best option for him specifically. Every dog is different, so what works for one might not work for another. I might try a different Pure Balance formula, or I might switch to another brand altogether. The search for the perfect dog food continues!
