Help! Why is my dog gathering all her toys in one place? Find out the common reasons!
Okay, so the other day, I noticed something kinda weird with my dog, Daisy. She's a golden retriever, about three years old, and usually pretty chill. But lately, she's been doing this thing where she gathers ALL her toys in one spot. Like, every single one. It started small, but now it is a really a big deal for me, so I decided to figure out what's going on.

My Observation Diary
Day 1: The Initial Discovery
I walked into the living room and saw a small pile of toys near her bed. A couple of squeaky balls, a rope toy, and her favorite stuffed hedgehog. I didn't think much of it at first, just figured she'd been playing and left them there.
Day 2: The Pile Grows
The next day, the pile was bigger. More toys had joined the collection – a rubber bone, a frisbee, even that old sock she loves to chew on. This time, I watched her for a bit. She would pick up a toy, carry it over to the pile, and drop it carefully, like she was organizing them. Started to seem a bit odd.
Day 3: Full-Blown Hoarding
By day three, it was a full-blown toy mountain. Every single toy she owns, was in that pile. She even dug out some old ones from under the couch that I hadn't seen in months! She was sitting next to the pile, looking all proud of herself. That's when I knew I had to figure out what's going on.
Seeking Explanations
So, what did I do? I started like everyone else who have no ideas -- googled "why is my dog gathering all her toys". And I found some interesting stuff, not everthing works, but I found someting useful.
- Some people said it could be a nesting instinct, even if she's not pregnant.
- Others mentioned it could be boredom or a way to get attention.
- A few articles talked about it being a sign of anxiety or stress.
My Action Plan
I decided to try a few things based on what I read:

- More Playtime: I made sure to spend extra time playing with her, taking her for longer walks, and just giving her more attention overall.
- New Toys: I bought her a couple of new puzzle toys to keep her mentally stimulated. I even bought a new toy looks the same with the old ones, to make her happy.
- Creating a Safe Space: I made her bed extra cozy and added a blanket she loves, just to make sure she felt secure.
The Results (So Far)
It's been a few days since I started my little experiment. And guess what? It seems that she has a little change. The toy gathering is now slow down a little bit. She still puts some toys together, but it's not the massive pile it was before.
I'm still keeping an eye on her, and I think the extra playtime and attention are helping the most. It could've been a bit of boredom, maybe a little bit of nesting instinct. Whatever the reason, I'm glad she's seeming a bit more relaxed now. It's all about figuring out what your furry friend needs, right?
