Help! My Dog Likes My Underwear, What Can I Do Now?

Okay, so, the other day, I noticed something kinda weird with my dog, Buddy. He kept getting into my laundry basket and pulling out my underwear. At first, I just thought it was funny, but then it kept happening. Like, every day, he was at it. I was like, “What’s the deal, Buddy?”

So, I started watching him more closely. I realized he wasn’t just grabbing them; he was really going to town, chewing them up, and sometimes even trying to eat them! I read somewhere that this is called “pica,” where dogs eat things that aren’t food. But I wasn’t so sure about it in this case. This behavior didn’t seem that serious.

Then it hit me. Buddy seemed a bit bored lately. We hadn’t been to the park as much because of the rain, and I had been swamped with work, so maybe he wasn’t getting enough playtime. Could he just be looking for attention?

I decided to up our playtime and exercise. I took him for extra walks, we played fetch in the living room, and I even bought him some new chew toys. Basically, I tried to keep him busy and engaged.

And guess what? It worked! He stopped going for my underwear. It was like night and day. Now, instead of finding my boxers shredded, I find him happily gnawing on his new toys. I also got this special hamper with a lid he can’t open, just in case. Some people I talked to even came up with special boxes and hiding spots for keeping their undies safe, which I thought was pretty smart.

So, yeah, it turns out my dog just needed a bit more attention and something to keep him occupied. It was a good reminder that sometimes our furry friends act out because they’re bored or need more interaction. Problem solved!
