Okay, here is my sharing about making fabric dog toys:

So I wanted to make some toys for my dog, Buddy. He loves to chew, and I was getting tired of buying new toys all the time, plus, they can get pretty pricey! I figured, why not try making some myself? It seemed like a fun project, and I already had a bunch of old fabric scraps lying around.

Getting Started

First, I needed to find some tough fabric. I remembered reading somewhere online that canvas and denim were good choices, and it made sense since they’re pretty sturdy materials. Luckily, I had an old pair of jeans that I didn’t wear anymore and a canvas tote bag that was just collecting dust. Perfect! I also grabbed some fleece scraps from an old blanket. It feels soft but strong enough.

Cutting and Sewing

Next, I cut the fabric into different shapes. I did some simple squares and rectangles for basic chew toys, and then I got a little fancy and tried making a bone shape out of the denim. I used some leftover cotton stuffing from an old pillow to stuff the toys. It was actually pretty easy to sew them together, even with my basic sewing skills. I just used a simple stitch on my sewing machine, making sure to go over the seams a couple of times to make them extra strong. I made sure all the seams are strong, can not let my dog easily break them.

Testing Them Out

Once I finished a few toys, it was time for the real test – Buddy! I gave him one of the fleece squares first, and he went crazy for it! He chewed on it, tossed it around, and had a blast. Then I gave him the denim bone, and he seemed to love that one even more. He’s been chewing on them for days now, and they’re still holding up great!

My Thoughts

  • It’s way cheaper than buying toys from the store.
  • I get to use up old fabric scraps instead of throwing them away.
  • It’s actually a pretty fun and easy project, even for someone like me who’s not a sewing expert.
  • Buddy seems to love them, and that’s what matters most!

Honestly, making these fabric dog toys was a total win. I’ll definitely be making more in the future. I might even try getting more creative with the shapes and designs. If you have a dog and some old fabric, I highly recommend giving it a try!
