Dog Keeps Eating My Underwear: Understand Why and Get Easy Solutions!
Okay, so, picture this: I’m chilling at home, minding my own business, when I notice something’s off with my dog, Buster. He’s a good boy, usually, but lately, he’s been acting… weird. And then it hits me. My underwear. It’s disappearing. Not all at once, but one by one, like some kind of slow-motion magic trick.
First, I started checking his usual hangout spots. Nothing. Then, I looked in the laundry basket, but it was empty.
Then I started to suspect it’s Buster. So I started watching him. Closely. It took a couple of days, but I finally caught him in the act. He snuck into my room, grabbed a pair right out of the drawer, and tried to make a run for it. I was shocked. I mean, of all things, why underwear?
So I started to do some research. I read that dogs might eat underwear because of the smell. Yeah, it sounds gross, but apparently, our scent is strong there, and it can be attractive to them. Others said it could be boredom or even some kind of weird resource guarding thing. I tried a few different things, based on what I read.
- I made sure Buster was getting enough exercise and playtime, to rule out boredom.
- I also tried giving him more chew toys, hoping that would satisfy his need to chew on something.
- I even started keeping my bedroom door closed, to limit his access to the “forbidden fruit,” so to speak.
It wasn’t easy. This dog is persistent. But eventually, he seemed to lose interest. Maybe it was the extra attention, maybe the new toys, or maybe he just got tired of the chase. I cleaned up my room and make them not that easy to find. Who knows. But I haven’t lost a pair of underwear since.
What I Learned
So, yeah, my dog ate my underwear. It was weird, it was gross, but we got through it. Now, I make sure to keep my things out of reach, and he’s back to his normal, non-underwear-eating self. It’s a win-win, I guess. And hey, at least I have a good story to tell, right?
