Dog Digging in the Carpet: Common Causes & How to Stop It
Okay, here's my blog post about my dog's carpet digging, written from my personal experience, using simple language and basic HTML tags:

So, the other day, I noticed my furry little buddy, Buster, going to town on our living room carpet. He wasn't just playing; he was digging like he was trying to find buried treasure. I was like, "What the heck, dog?"
First, I checked the obvious. Was he bored? He has a mountain of toys, but I tossed him his favorite squeaky one anyway. He looked at it, looked at the carpet, and went right back to digging.
My Little Investigation
- Food? Nope. I made sure his food and water bowls were full. He wasn't hungry.
- Potty break? Nope again. I just took him out for a walk, and he did his business.
- Stress? Hmm... This was a possibility. We had some friends over earlier, and Buster can be a little anxious around new people.
Since he seemed a bit on edge, I tried to calm him down. I sat next to him on the floor and just petted him gently. I spoke in a soothing voice, you know, the kind you use with a baby. I did this for a good 15 minutes. He slowly started to settle.
Then I got an idea! I have these puzzle toys where you hide treats inside. I grabbed one, stuffed it with some yummy bits, and gave it to Buster. He forgot all about the carpet and was totally focused on getting those treats out. Success!
It seems like a combination of anxiety and boredom was the culprit. He needed something to occupy his mind, a distraction. I learned that keeping him mentally stimulated is just as important as physical exercise. I am going to keep using the method when he dig the carpet again. And I plan to rotate his toys more often, so he doesn't get bored with the same old stuff. I hope it can really figure it out.
