Dog Daycare Prices Per Day: Are They Worth It? Lets Break It Down!
Okay, so, I’ve been thinking about getting a dog for a while now, but I work long hours. Leaving a furry friend home alone all day just didn’t sit right with me. So, I started looking into doggy daycare. I figured it would be a good way for a pup to socialize and get some energy out while I’m stuck at the office.
First, I jumped online and started checking out some local places. I made a list of like five or six that had decent reviews and were somewhat close to me or on my way to work. I wanted to get a feel for the general vibe, you know? See what kind of activities they offered, what the staff-to-dog ratio was like, stuff like that.
Then came the fun part: actually calling these places! I tried to schedule some tours, which most places were totally cool with. Talking to the staff on the phone gave me a better sense of each place. Some were super friendly and informative, others… not so much. It was good to get a gut feeling before actually setting foot in there.
- The First Place: Seemed fancy, they have grooming stuff and even a swimming pool, they are the most expensive one, but also quite far from my home.
- The Second Place: More my speed. Big indoor and outdoor play areas, lots of toys, and the staff seemed really passionate about dogs. And the price was within the average range.
- The Third Place: Felt a bit chaotic when I visited. Lots of barking, not a lot of staff supervision. Definitely crossed that one off my list.
- The Fourth Place: The price was ok, but there wasn’t much play area, mostly just small cages.
- The Fifth Place: Small, cozy, family-run vibe. The owner was super sweet and the dogs there seemed really happy.
After all the visits, I finally picked the one I felt the most comfortable with, which is the second place I visited. It felt like a good balance of everything. Now, let’s talk about the price, which was the main thing I was curious about when I started this whole process!
From what I gathered during my research, most places around here charge somewhere between $15 and $30 a day. Some were a bit pricier, especially the ones with all the extra fancy stuff. The place I ended up choosing charges $25 a day, which I think is pretty reasonable. They also offer half-day rates, which is good to know. I think some other places go as high as $50, or even $70 for a day, that’s so crazy. There are also some places that are like $20 to $25 per half day. Anyway, I feel like I did a pretty good job researching this doggy daycare thing. Now I just need to actually get a dog!
