Cute Scottish Girl Names for Dogs: Check Out This List!

Okay, so I was thinking it was time to give my new puppy a cool name, and since I’ve always been into my Scottish heritage, I thought, why not a Scottish name? It sounded like a fun idea at first, but boy, was I in for a ride!

Cute Scottish Girl Names for Dogs: Check Out This List!

First, I started with a simple Google search. You know, just typing in “Scottish girl names for dogs” and seeing what popped up. I found a bunch of articles and lists, but honestly, a lot of the names were either too common or just didn’t feel right for my little furball.

Digging Deeper

So, I decided to go a bit deeper. I started looking into names inspired by famous Scottish women. This was interesting, but I realized some of those names were a bit too… formal? I mean, could you imagine calling out a historical figure’s name at the dog park? It just felt weird.

  • I looked at Gaelic Scottish names. Some of them were really pretty, but also super hard to pronounce! I didn’t want to confuse my poor pup with a name I could barely say myself.
  • Then, I explored nature-inspired names. This was a bit more my style. “Clyde” was a name that came up, inspired by the river in Glasgow. I thought it was cool for a male dog’s name.

Narrowing It Down

I also looked at a list of the top 10 girl dog names from some pet insurance company’s data in 2023. “Tilly,” “Rosie,” “Willow,” and others were on it. They were cute, but again, just not quite the right fit.

After hours of searching and brainstorming, I finally started to narrow down my list. I wanted something unique, but not too out there. Something that rolled off the tongue easily, but still had that Scottish flair.

The Final Choice

And then, it hit me. It was a simple name, but it had a nice ring to it, and I hadn’t seen it on any of the lists I’d been through. The name was Bonnie. And with the choice of “Clyde”, I can get myself a little outlaw duo! This was not on any of the lists I’d found, it came from a song, but it just felt right. It’s a name that’s both sweet and a little bit sassy, just like my pup. Plus, it’s got that Scottish connection I was looking for. Finally, I had the perfect name for my new furry friend!

So, yeah, that’s the story of how I ended up choosing a Scottish name for my dog. It was way more of an adventure than I expected, but I’m really happy with the name I landed on. It’s unique, it’s cute, and it’s got a little bit of that Scottish spirit. Perfect!
