Best Untamed Dog Food? Unbiased Breakdown of Ingredients!
Okay, so I've been hearing a lot about "untamed" dog food lately, this whole idea of feeding your dog like, a really raw, natural diet. Sounds kinda cool, maybe a bit intense, so I figured I'd give it a shot and see what all the fuss is about. My dog, Buster, he's a golden retriever, pretty chill, but he's been having some, uh, digestive issues, if you know what I mean. Figured maybe a change in diet could help.
Getting Started
First thing I did was, obviously, hit up the internet. I mean, who doesn't? I was looking for, like, what is untamed dog food, anyway? Found a bunch of stuff, some websites selling it, some blogs talking about it. Seemed like the main idea was raw meat, bones, some veggies, maybe some fruit. Basically, what a wolf would eat, I guess.
Prepping the Food
Next up, I went shopping. This was… an experience. I ended up at this butcher shop I'd never been to before, asking for things like "chicken necks" and "beef hearts." The butcher looked at me a little funny, but hey, he had the stuff. I also grabbed some sweet potatoes, carrots, and blueberries at the regular grocery store.
Back home, it was time to get messy. I'm not gonna lie, handling all that raw meat was a little weird at first. I chopped up the veggies, measured out the meat (using some recipes I found online as a general guide), and then, the bones. I gave Buster a big ol' raw chicken wing. He looked at me like I was crazy, then proceeded to devour it in, like, two seconds flat. Crunch, crunch, crunch, gone.
- Raw meat(chicken, beef)
- Bones(chicken wings, necks)
- Vegetables(sweet potatoes, carrots)
- Fruits(blueberries)
The Results (So Far)
It's only been a week, so I can't say for sure if this is a miracle cure or anything. But, I gotta say, Buster seems to be… enjoying it. He's definitely more excited about meal times. And, the, uh, output has been, shall we say, firmer. Which is a definite plus.
I'm still figuring things out. It's definitely more work than just scooping kibble into a bowl. And I'm a little paranoid about making sure he's getting all the right nutrients. I'm reading up on stuff, joining some online groups, that kind of thing. I read that making sure there is enough variety is most important thing.
I'll keep you guys posted on how it goes. Maybe in a few weeks I'll have a more definitive answer on whether this whole "untamed" thing is worth it. For now, though, Buster seems happy, and that's what matters, right?
