Best Candy Names for Dogs: What is Your Favorite?

So, I’ve been thinking about getting a dog for a while now, and I finally took the plunge! It’s been a whirlwind of puppy-proofing the house, buying all the gear, and, of course, the most exciting part – picking a name. I wanted something sweet and fun, so I thought, why not name my new furry friend after candy?

I started by just brainstorming all the candy I could think of. My kitchen table was covered in scribbled notes, it was kind of a mess, but a fun one. I wrote down everything from the classics like Snickers and Twix to the more obscure ones like those weird gummy candies shaped like hot dogs. The more I thought about it, the more I was having fun with this.

Then, I started thinking about which names would actually sound good when you call them out in the park, “Reese! Here boy!” sounds pretty cool, right? Also I considered my dog’s personality. Is she more of a playful Skittle or a chill Rolo? This got a bit tricky.

I even Googled “candy names for dogs,” and boy, did that open up a whole new can of worms. There were lists and articles, some helpful, some just plain weird. I read that some candies, like Smarties, are safe for dogs in small quantities. That’s good to know, but I doubt I’ll be feeding my pup candy anyway.

After days of deliberation, and a lot of back and forth, I finally narrowed it down to a few contenders:

  • Reese – Because who doesn’t love peanut butter cups?
  • Skittles – For a colorful and energetic pup.
  • Rolo – Short, sweet, and easy to call out.

In the end, I decided to name my new best friend Rolo! It just felt right. He’s a sweet little guy, with a smooth chocolate brown coat, and he’s always rolling around on the floor. It’s a perfect match.

The whole process was a lot more involved than I thought it would be. But honestly, it was a lot of fun. And now I have a furry buddy named Rolo, which always makes me smile.
