Best Boxer Puppy Names: Strong, Sweet & Everything In Between
Okay, so I've got a new Boxer puppy! He's all wrinkles and energy, and I knew I needed the perfect name. I didn't want anything too common, but also nothing too weird. My journey began!

Brainstorming Bonanza
First, I grabbed a notebook and started jotting down anything that came to mind. I thought about his personality – he's playful, clumsy, and a little bit goofy. I wrote down some strong-sounding names, some funny names, and even some names based on his coloring (he's got a brindle coat).
- Rocky (classic, but maybe too common?)
- Buster (kinda cute, kinda tough)
- Moose (he is gonna be a big boy!)
- Brindle (too on the nose?)
- Waffles (okay, that one's just silly)
I spent a good hour just brainstorming, crossing names out, and adding new ones. I had the notebook, now to try some on!
The Test Run
Next, I decided to try out some of the names. I called him by different names while he was playing, seeing which ones he seemed to respond to (or, let's be real, which ones I liked saying the most!). This part was hilarious. He mostly just ignored me, chasing his tail or trying to eat my shoelaces. But a name to stick, and I needed him to respond, at least I think I did.
I narrowed it down to my top three: Bruno, Tank, and Gus.
The Family Vote
I gathered the family, shared to get everyone's input! I will say my partner and kids had some...interesting...suggestions of their own (Captain Snugglepaws was a hard no). But it was good to get their opinions.
- Bruno: Everyone liked it, said it was a solid, classic Boxer name.
- Tank: My son was a big fan, but my partner thought it was a bit too aggressive.
- Gus: I liked the friendly vibe, but my daughter thought it sounded "old-mannish."
The Final Decision
After a lot of back-and-forth, we finally landed on... Bruno! It just felt right. It suits his personality, it's easy to say, and he seems to respond to it (at least sometimes!). Plus, I realized I could call him "Bru" for short, which is adorable.
So, welcome to the family, Bruno! Naming a puppy is definitely a process, but it's worth it to find that perfect fit. And trust me, watching them try to figure out their new name is half the fun!
