Okay, so I've got a super active Border Collie, right? He's got energy for days, and I needed to find some ways to keep him entertained in the backyard. Otherwise, he starts digging up my flower beds! So, I embarked on this little project to find the best yard toys for dogs.
First, I tried one of those rope tug toys. You know, the kind with the big knot at the end? He loved it... for about five minutes. Then he figured out how to unravel the whole thing, and I was left with a pile of shredded rope. Not exactly what I had in mind.
Next, I went with a classic: a tennis ball. He's a fetch fanatic, so I thought, "This is foolproof!" Well, it was great, until he managed to pop the ball. Seriously, this dog has jaws of steel! I went through, like, three tennis balls in a week.

Then, I added a frisbee to the mix. Not just any frisbee, though. I got one of those soft, rubbery ones. It's easier on his teeth, and it flies pretty well. He's getting really good at catching it in mid-air. It's awesome to watch.
Finally, I set up a little DIY agility course. I just used some old PVC pipes and some cones I had lying around. I taught him to jump over the pipes and weave through the cones. It's not perfect, but it's a fun way to challenge him both mentally and physically. It keeps things fresh.
