Affordable Up Dog Toys: Top Picks for Every Budget.

Okay, so I decided to try and make some "up dog" toys, mostly because I was bored and my pup, Buster, goes through toys like crazy. I figured, why not try to make something myself? Might save a few bucks, you know?

Affordable Up Dog Toys: Top Picks for Every Budget.

Getting Started

First, I gathered some old stuff I had lying around. Think old t-shirts, some worn-out towels – basically anything fabric that was headed for the trash anyway. I also grabbed some scissors and some rope I had in the garage.

The Process

I started by cutting the t-shirts and towels into strips. I didn't measure anything, just eyeballed it. The strips were probably, like, 2-3 inches wide and various lengths. No need for perfection here!

Next, I took a bunch of these strips and tied them together at one end with a really tight knot. Like, super tight, because Buster is a chewer.

  • Braid it:Then I started braiding the strips. Just like you'd braid hair, nothing fancy. I tried to keep it pretty tight, but it definitely wasn't perfect.
  • Add Rope:For some of the toys, I incorporated the rope into the braid. I just laid it alongside the fabric strips and braided it in. This made those toys extra tough.
  • Knot the End: Once I had a good length (again, just eyeballing it), I tied another super tight knot at the other end.
  • Make a ball shape:I used a couple of strips tie them around the middle part of the braided * it looke like a ball,or a bone shape.

The Result

Honestly, they looked kinda messy, but Buster didn't care! He went nuts for them. I made a few different ones – some just braided fabric, some with the rope, some longer, some shorter. He loved them all! He had lots of fun with them.

The best part? They're holding up pretty well! And when they do eventually get destroyed, I can just make more. It's a win-win! Definitely going to keep doing this.
