Reviews on NutriSource Dog Food: Pros, Cons & More!
Okay, so I’ve been meaning to share my experience with NutriSource dog food, and since I’ve finally gotten around to it, let me tell you all about it.
It all started when I was looking for a new dog food for my furry friend, Max. I wanted something that was good for him, you know? Not just any kibble, but something that would keep him healthy and happy. So I started digging around, reading up on different brands and what they offered. That’s when I stumbled upon NutriSource.
First thing that caught my eye was that it’s a family-owned company, been around for three generations. That gave me some confidence right off the bat. They’re based in Minnesota and, get this, they don’t outsource their kibble production. That’s a big deal for me, knowing they’re hands-on with their product.
Then I saw that they worked with a Ph.D. in Animal Nutrition to develop their formulas. And the reviews from vets were consistently good, like, five-star good. That really sealed the deal for me. I thought, “Okay, these guys seem to know what they’re doing.”

Switching Max over to NutriSource was pretty smooth. I mixed it with his old food gradually, and he took to it like a duck to water. No upset stomach or anything, which was a relief.
-
I noticed his coat got shinier, and he seemed to have more energy. He’s always been an active dog, but he seemed even more playful after being on NutriSource for a few weeks.

Another thing I appreciated was the variety they offered. They have different formulas for different needs, like large breeds, small breeds, different life stages, and even some grain-free options. I opted for the adult chicken and rice formula, and Max loves it.
My Experience
Of course, no brand is perfect. I did some more digging and found out that NutriSource faced a lawsuit back in 2019. Something about lead, arsenic, and BPA levels in some of their products. They denied it, but it’s something to keep in mind. I checked the specific product I was using, and it wasn’t one of the ones mentioned, so I felt a bit better about it.
Overall, I’d say my experience with NutriSource has been positive. Max is thriving, and that’s what matters most to me. It’s not the cheapest option out there, but for the quality and the peace of mind, I think it’s worth it. But I kept an eye on that lawsuit thing, just in case, and always kept myself updated.
So, if you’re on the fence about trying NutriSource, I’d say give it a shot. But like with any dog food, do your research, see what real customers are saying, and make sure it’s the right fit for your furry friend. Every dog is different, but for Max and me, NutriSource has been a good choice. I also talked with a few other dog owners who used NutriSource, and their experiences were pretty similar to mine. It seemed like a solid choice for a lot of dogs.
