Okay, so, I’ve been thinking about switching up my dog’s food lately. He’s been on the same stuff for a while, and I just feel like it’s time for a change. Plus, I keep hearing about this Heart to Tail brand at Aldi, and the prices are seriously tempting. So, I decided to give it a try.

First, I went to my local Aldi store and wandered over to the pet food aisle. They had a bunch of different Heart to Tail products, dry food, wet food, treats, you name it. I grabbed a bag of the Complete Nutrition dry food, the one with the yellow label. It’s got ground yellow corn, poultry by-product meal, and a bunch of other stuff in it. I’ll be honest; I’m not super familiar with all those ingredients, but I figured it had to be okay, right?

After I grabbed the dry food, I saw they also had the Pure Being line, and I heard about that one, too. People say it’s a little bit better quality, so I got a small bag of that, too. I mean, might as well see what the fuss is all about, you know? The Pure Being one looks a bit fancier, I guess. I didn’t want to spend a fortune, but I also felt a little guilty about going for the super cheap option.

When I got home, I decided to start with the Heart to Tail Complete Nutrition. I mixed a little bit of it in with his old food, just to ease him into it. He seemed to like it okay. He ate it all up, no problem. Over the next few days, I slowly increased the amount of Heart to Tail and decreased the old food. No issues there, which was good. He’s usually pretty easygoing when it comes to food, so I wasn’t too worried.

After a week or so, he was completely on the Heart to Tail. And so far, so good. I even tried him on one of the Shep Heart to Tail Beef Flavored Snacks. He seemed to really like those treats, gobbling them right up.

Did I try Pure Being

Then I decided to try out the Pure Being. I did the same thing, mixing it in with the Heart to Tail to get him used to it. Honestly, I didn’t notice a huge difference in his reaction. He seemed to like both of them just fine.

My final thoughts

• Affordability: You really can’t beat the price of this stuff. It’s way cheaper than the big-name brands.
• Variety: They have a ton of different options, so you can find something that works for your dog.
• My dog seems happy: He’s eating it, he’s pooping normally, and he seems to have plenty of energy. That’s all I really care about.

Overall, I’m pretty happy with my decision to try Heart to Tail dog food. It’s definitely worth checking out if you’re looking to save some money on pet food. I mean, it’s not like it’s some super-premium, gourmet dog food, but it gets the job done. My dog seems perfectly happy with it, and that’s what matters most to me. And hey, if it saves me a few bucks in the process, that’s a win-win in my book.
