Okay, here's my take on documenting my snake toy dog project, blog-style!

Snake Toy Dog: Is It Safe? Find Out Here!

My DIY Snake Toy Dog Adventure

Alright folks, so I got this crazy idea in my head – gotta make a snake toy for my dog, Max. He’s been chewing everything in sight lately, and those store-bought toys just ain't cuttin' it anymore. Plus, I wanted to try something a little different, see if I could get creative.

First things first, I grabbed all my supplies. I rummaged through my fabric scraps and found some old fleece lying around – perfect! Soft, durable, and I don’t care if Max rips it up. Then, I snagged some stuffing from an old pillow I was gonna toss anyway. Gotta save those pennies! I also dug out my sewing machine (dusty, as usual), thread, scissors, and a marker.

Next up, the designing. I sketched a basic snake shape on a piece of paper. Nothing fancy, just a long tube with a slightly wider head. I decided to make it about two feet long – good for Max to wrestle with. Then I cut out two pieces of fleece based on my sketch, leaving some extra room for seam allowance.

Time to sew! I pinned the two pieces of fleece together, right sides facing in. I fired up the sewing machine (loud as ever!) and started sewing around the edges, leaving an opening at the tail end for stuffing. This part was a little tricky, especially around the head, but I took my time and managed to get it done without too much cursing.

Now for the stuffing. I turned the fleece snake right-side out (like birthing a snake, haha!). Then I started stuffing it with the pillow filling, little by little, making sure to pack it in nice and tight. This took a while, and my fingers started to ache, but I kept going until the snake was nice and plump.

Almost there! I folded in the edges of the opening at the tail and pinned it shut. Then I carefully sewed it closed with my machine. A bit wonky, but hey, handmade!

To give the snake some character, I grabbed some black felt and cut out two small circles for eyes. I glued them onto the snake’s head with some fabric glue. I also used a red marker to draw a little forked tongue. Cute and slightly menacing, just how I like it.

Finally, the moment of truth. I presented the snake to Max. He sniffed it cautiously, then grabbed it and started shaking it like crazy! Success! He played with it for a good hour, tossing it around, chewing on it, and generally having a blast. So glad it turned out awesome and he loves it!

Definitely worth the effort! Plus, I learned a thing or two about sewing along the way. Might just make a whole zoo of toys for Max now! What should I make next hmmm!
