Cool Dog Toilet Paper Roll Toy: Keep Your Dog Entertained
Okay, so I saw this thing online about making toys for your dog from old toilet paper rolls, and I thought, “Why not give it a shot?” My dog, Max, goes through toys like crazy, and I’m always looking for new ways to keep him entertained without breaking the bank. Plus, it seemed like a fun little project.
First things first, I gathered my materials. It’s pretty simple: just some empty toilet paper rolls and a handful of Max’s favorite treats. I made sure the rolls were clean of any, you know, leftover paper or glue.
- Empty toilet paper rolls
- Dog treats
Steps:
Next, I took a treat and placed it inside one of the rolls. You could probably use kibble too, but I knew the smell of the treats would really get Max’s attention.
Then, I folded the ends of the roll inwards to close it up. You got to make sure the treat is tucked in there nicely so it doesn’t just fall out. I kind of experimented with different folding techniques, but just a simple fold-over works fine.
For an added challenge, I decided to cut a small hole in the middle of the roll. I used scissors for this, just poked a hole big enough for the treat to eventually fall out of. I figured this would make Max work a little harder for his reward.
Once the toy was assembled, it was time for the fun part – giving it to Max! He sniffed it out right away, and you could see the excitement in his eyes. He started batting the roll around with his paws and using his nose to try and figure out how to get the treat out.
It was hilarious to watch! He spent a good chunk of time rolling it around, chewing on the ends, and trying to get that treat. Eventually, he figured it out, and the treat fell out of the hole. You should have seen the happy dance he did!
Honestly, this little DIY toy was a big hit. It kept Max busy and engaged, and it was super cheap and easy to make. Plus, it’s a great way to reuse those toilet paper rolls instead of just throwing them away. I’m definitely going to be making more of these in the future. Maybe I’ll even try different shapes or sizes to keep things interesting. If you’ve got a dog, you should give this a try. It’s a win-win!
I’ve even thought of using paper towel rolls to stuff more treats into it for a longer-lasting toy. Great for a rainy day to keep Max busy!
