Catnip Dog Toys vs. Regular Toys: Which is better choice?
Okay, so I decided to make some catnip dog toys, and let me tell you, it was a bit of a rollercoaster. I'm no Martha Stewart, but I figured, how hard could it be, right?

Gathering the Supplies
First, I gathered all the stuff I needed. This included:
- Some old socks (the thicker, the better, I figured)
- A big bag of catnip (my cats were already eyeing it suspiciously)
- Needle and thread (I went with a bright color, just in case)
- Scissors (pretty basic, yeah?)
- Maybe some stuffing, if the socks were too floppy (optional)
The Process
I started by turning the sock inside out. Seemed logical. Then, I spooned a generous amount of catnip into the sock. My cats were going absolutely bonkers at this point, circling my feet like furry little sharks.
Next, I tied off the open end of the sock. I used a simple knot, nothing fancy. I double-knotted it, just to be safe. Don't want catnip explosions everywhere.
I sewed around,I went the extra mile and sewed it shut to make catnip inside of the sock more safety.I just stitched it back and forth a few * I had used stuffing, I would have added that before sewing it up, obviously.
The Result
Honestly, they looked… okay. Like lumpy, catnip-filled socks. Which is exactly what they were. But the important thing is, my cats LOVED them. They batted them around, kicked them, rolled all over them – it was pure feline chaos. My dogs watched with a mixture of confusion and mild interest.
One of my cats, Mittens, even tried to steal the extra catnip. Sneaky little thing.
So, yeah, my DIY catnip dog toys weren't exactly pretty, but they were a huge hit. And honestly, that's all that matters. Plus, it was super easy and cheap. I'd definitely do it again. Maybe next time I'll try using some felt and making actual shapes. Maybe...Or get my sewing machine out and make a nicer one.
