DIY Hanging Dog Toy Ideas: Cheap & Easy Entertainment Now!
Okay, so I saw this idea online for a hanging dog toy and thought, "Why not? My pup, Buster, goes through toys like crazy!" I figured I could save a few bucks and give him something new to play with. Plus, I kinda like these little DIY projects.

Gathering the Goods
First things first, I needed to find some stuff. I didn't want to buy anything new, so I started digging through my garage.
- Old Rope: I found a decent length of sturdy rope, looked like it was used for towing something, it's thick and perfect.
- Tennis Ball: Buster loves tennis balls, found some old ones.
- An Old T-shirt: Found one of my old t-shirts, ripped but clean.
Putting It Together
I started by cutting the T-shirt into long *, I wrapped these strips all around the tennis ball. And then I tied them with a simple knot. After that I drilled a hole through the tennis ball. It was tougher than I thought, I ended up using a bigger drill bit than I planned, but it worked!
Next, I threaded the rope through the hole. This was a little tricky, but I managed to get it through by pushing it with a screwdriver.
I tied a big knot at the bottom of the rope, so the ball wouldn't slip off. And above the ball, I tied another knot, this one was to create a loop for hanging.
Hanging It Up
Finding a good spot was the next challenge. I have this strong branch on the oak tree in my backyard that seemed perfect. I threw the rope over the branch (took a few tries, my aim isn't great!) and tied the other end of the rope to the branch, making sure it was secure.
The Result
Buster LOVES it! He's been jumping and tugging at it non-stop. He hasn't destroyed the tennis ball. The whole thing seems pretty sturdy. Honestly, I'm surprised how well it turned out. For something made out of scraps, it's a pretty awesome dog toy. And the best part? It kept Buster entertained for hours, and it didn't cost me a dime!
