Purina ONE Plus Dog Food: Before You Buy, Check Out These Honest Reviews!
Okay, so I've been meaning to switch up my dog's food for a while now. He's been getting a little, shall we say, fluffy around the edges, and his coat hasn't been looking its best. I kept seeing ads for Purina ONE Plus, and the "healthy weight" formula really caught my eye. So, I decided to give it a shot and document the whole process.

The Shopping Trip
First things first, I headed to the pet store. I wanted to see the different Purina ONE Plus options in person. I found the dog food aisle (obviously) and spotted the Purina ONE section. They had a ton of different formulas! I grabbed the Healthy Weight High Protein, with real turkey as the first ingredient. It looked promising.
Reading the Fine Print
Back home, I took a closer look at the bag. I always like to check the ingredients and feeding guidelines. I noticed it had L-Carnitine, which Iaguely remembered was supposed to help with fat metabolism. Cool. The feeding instructions seemed pretty standard, so I figured I'd start with the recommended amount for his weight and adjust if needed.
The Transition Begins
I knew I couldn't just switch his food cold turkey (pun intended!), so I started mixing a little of the Purina ONE Plus with his old food. I did this gradually over a week, increasing the Purina ONE Plus and decreasing the old food each day. He didn't seem to notice any difference, which was a good sign!
Observing the Results(or Lack Thereof)
- Week 1: No major changes. He ate it all up, no digestive issues. Poop looked normal (yes, I check).
- Week 2: Still no dramatic weight loss, but I thought his coat might be looking a little shinier? Maybe it was wishful thinking.
- Week 3: Okay, I swear he's got more energy! He's been way more playful during our walks.
- Week 4: I weighed him, and he's actually lost a pound! It's not a huge amount, but it's progress! His coat definitely looks healthier too.
The Verdict?
So, after a month of using Purina ONE Plus Healthy Weight, I'm pretty happy with it. My dog seems to enjoy the food, he's got more pep in his step, and he's even shed a little bit of weight. I'm going to keep him on it and see if he continues to slim down. I might even try another one of their formulas in the future. It is really good, I think!
