Fish Broth for Dogs: Easy Recipe & Health Benefits
Okay, so I decided to make some fish broth for my dogs. I've heard it's good for them, and frankly, my pups deserve a little treat. Plus, I had some leftover fish scraps from dinner, and I hate wasting anything.

Getting Started
First, I gathered my ingredients. Nothing fancy, just the basics:
- Fish scraps (bones, heads, skin – the stuff I'd normally toss)
- Water
- A couple of carrots, chopped (because veggies are good, right?)
- A bit of parsley (for fresh breath, hopefully!)
The Cooking Process
I threw everything into a big pot. No precise measurements here, just eyeballed it. I added enough water to cover all the fishy bits and then some. Then, I brought it to a boil. Once it was bubbling away, I turned the heat down low and let it simmer. And simmer. And simmer some more.
Honestly, I left it on the stove for a good few hours. I figured the longer it simmered, the more goodness would be extracted from those bones. My kitchen started to smell pretty fishy, but hey, it's for the dogs, so who cares?
Straining and Cooling
After about four hours, I decided it was probably done. I turned off the heat and carefully poured the broth through a strainer into a large bowl. I wanted to make sure I got all the bones and bits out – nobody wants a choking hazard.
I discarded the solids and was left with a big bowl of cloudy, fishy liquid. I let it cool completely. This is important! You don't want to burn your pups' tongues.
The Taste Test (by the Dogs)
Once it was cool, I ladled some into my dogs' bowls. They went absolutely crazy for it! Sniffing, lapping, and wagging their tails like mad. I guess it was a success! They drank up every last drop.
