90s Dog Toys for Sale: Get Your Paws on These Awesome Retro Finds!
Okay, so I saw this thing online about making dog toys out of old t-shirts, and I thought, "Hey, I can do that!" I had a bunch of old shirts I was gonna donate, so I figured, why not try to make something for my pup, Max?

Getting Started
First, I grabbed those old shirts. I think I had like, five or six? Different colors, which I thought would be cool. I also found some scissors. That's pretty much all I needed, which was awesome.
Making the Strips
I laid the shirts out on the floor and started cutting them into strips. I wasn't too precise about it, just kinda eyeballed it. I think I made them about 2-3 inches wide, and the whole length of the shirt. The bottom hem, I just tossed. Some of the strips were a little wonky, but I figured Max wouldn't care.
Braiding Time
This was the fun part, though it took a little figuring out. I took three strips and tied a knot at the top. Then I just started braiding them, like you would with hair. I kept the braid pretty tight, because I wanted it to be strong. I wanted them to be long so that I can do a tug-of-war.
- Pick your shirts - the more colorful, the better!
- Cut long strips – don’t be afraid to make them different sizes.
- Braid tightly! This makes the toy strong.
Finishing Up
Once I got to the end of the strips, I tied another knot. Super simple. I made a few of these, using different combinations of shirt colors. It actually went by pretty fast, once I got the hang of it.
Max absolutely loves them! He chews on them, plays tug-of-war with me… it's great! And I feel good about using old stuff instead of throwing it away. Plus, I saved some money on dog toys, which is always a bonus. Totally recommend trying this if you've got some old shirts lying around!
